An educational series of workshops with dancer and maestro Alejandro Aquino

First event: March 24 – 26, 2023
Alejandro Aquino – former dancer in the orchestra of Osvaldo Pugliese and educated by dancers as Miguel Balmaceda, Antonio Todaro and Pepito Avellaneda – represents the style of the old masters and teaches the form and flavour of their strong tango.

This is a weekend of tango on a high level explained for everybody who wants to dedicate themselves to it. From beginners to advanced. The classes will shape themselves to the people attending with differentiated instruction.

Come with a partner or come without and be prepared to be paired with other dancers at all levels. We suggest changing partners but also respect couples at work. 🙂

The weekend opens with a practica Friday followed by 2 x 4 hour workshops Saturday and Sunday.

In the tango style and tradition from which Aquino draws his tango, both parts are very strong and active and dependent on each other. The two have to work together to follow what the music dictates. This is of course true of the tango couple who study together, but also in the social life of going out dancing at the milongas, the equal communication makes the tango.

This is a unique option for beginners who want a good education, as well as for the ones who have danced for decades and want to take from a true ‘bailarin’ to enter the world of the old masters.

Content depending on levels:
The basic technique. Basicsteps and caminatas.
Posture and abrazo.
Dynamics in the turning steps.
Sequences with playful elements as barridas, boleos and ganchos.

In all elements, Aquino will work with the leader’s role of inviting and signaling in the dance and the follower’s role of understanding and answering to the invitations.
